Good morning here from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters located in St. Augustine Florida. This month has been slow unfortunately due to the coronavirus and the country shutdown, but I have had some local ppl that fish with me and have scored some really nice trolling trips. Big gaffer mahi, butterball tuna fish, wahoo and billfish all swim around the month of April! Yes it’s a long day, a 11-12 hr Gulfstream trolling trip is what it takes, but the bite can be hot and memories can last a lifetime. When trolling on the offshore fishing charters I try and find any forms of life or different water. I like to look for birds diving or bait. The water has a lot of factors too, with temperature change and color change. If your looking to pass some time deepsea fishing then give us a call. Where open for business and the fishing is good. Let’s go fishing on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters!

Good evening here from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters located in the oldest city St. Augustine Florida . Offshore fishing charters have been at stand still for the last couple weeks with wind blowing upwards of 20-30knts at some days, but small windows did prevail and we got to sneak out a couple times. The times we did go deepsea fishing off St. Augustine the bottom fishing was pretty good with the red snapper bite wide open. In fact we fished 3 different spots with literally nothing except red snapper. Piles of them!! I wish we could get a longer season for them but I don’t foresee that in the future unfortunately. As for the trolling, offshore pelagics are here, tuna fish, wahoo, mahi, sailfish and blue marlin can be caught the next 3 months off of St. Augustine Florida. Ballyhoos are my favorite choice for these offshore game fish with a decent size set up, at least a shimano tld 25 size reel with 30lb plus line with a medium action troll rod. I use shimano tld 50 2 speed and 30 tiagra 2 speed reels with a set of crowder medium action 6”6 troll rods. They seem to have enough flexibility at the tip to not pull hooks on fish at the transom but enough backbone in the lower end of the rod to pull back on the fish. If you are looking for a offshore deepsea fishing trip to remember for a lifetime give Drop Down Sport Fish Charters a call and we can set you up. Now if you booked a trip with us and we get blown out due to weather, we have the inshore fishing charters flats boat to at least get you out on the water and enjoy the day inshore fishing. The red fish bite for me has been solid with a couple trout and flounder too. Live shrimp is all that i really use but there are definitely more baits to choose! The earliest morning lower tide has been the best inshore fishing bite and moving water is key. So here we are, The time is now, let’s go fishing!! Dates are filling up quickly so give us a call on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters. Thanks for reading.

Hello and Good evening from Drop Down Sport Fish Charters here in the oldest city St. Augustine Florida . This is the February offshore fishing report for Drop Down Charters. The wind has been steady blowing 20 knots for days at a time but every now and then the wind lets up enough for a day and we were able to break out the inlet and go offshore fishing . I remember we couldn’t go deepsea because it was still pretty choppy, but thankfully the 39 carolina custom sportfish ate it up pretty decent. First stop was nothing but red snapper. Like 40 in a row. I said “well we know what’s at this spot” we pull anchor and moved on. Went a lil deeper, till I found some vermillion snapper and hung in there and fished because of course the wind started to pick up and blow again. As we where trying the last spot of the charter a big Cobia swam up right behind the boat. This fish was very curious swimming circles around the Drop Down. My mate chase and I where throwing every bait we had at this Cobia and he would just look at it and roll away. I saw the fish loosing interest and started swimming away when Finally at a last resort I grabbed a dead bait fish and hooked it threw the eyes in a frantic hurry and tossed it infront of the Cobia. The fish turned on it, and I pulled it away twice and then he had enough. Gulp !! He crushed it and the fight began. We fought the Cobia for about 45 mins till we gotten in the boat. Epic day aboard Drop Down Sport Fish Charters in St. Augustine Florida for this gentleman in the photo! Looking forward to the next trip with him. As the weather warms up here in St. Augustine Florida so does the fishing and the trolling season is right around the corner. If you are looking to target pelagics like sailfish, wahoo, mahi, tuna fish and even blue marlin then March threw May is the time to book a Gulfstream trip. Let’s go fishing on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters in St. Augustine Florida this summer 2020.

Water depth: 80-120ft

What's biting: Cobia, vermillion snapper, trigger fish, pinks , red Snapper

Here in St. Augustine Florida the month of January 2020 the weather has been great and the fishing on Drop Down Sport Fish Charters has been really good! It’s been sunny most days and I’ve had inshore fishing charters and offshore fishing charters. Typically in the month of January it’s cold rainy and windy, nothing I like to be in. In fact if it’s below 80 degrees it’s too cold for capt Alex! But until today it has been nice 60-70 degrees. As for the fishing report tho, the last inshore charter I had we caught some really nice quality fish. I think we had 6 nice sea trout, 3 fat slot red fish, 2 5lb black drum, 2 -3 small flounder and a bunch of shorts! It was a great trip and lots of meat for the fryer. I caught these fish on the outgoing tide and shrimp was the bait of choice. I would expect it to be pretty decent bite if it’s not blowing 25knts and 45 degrees. The offshore fishing charters off St. Augustine that I’ve had have been shorter trips 4-6 hr charters. I’ve been bottom fishing for Cobia , amberjack, and vermillion snapper. Wrecks are the place to be if targeting these fish and jigging just seems productive. But always have a live bait in the well, I don’t care what it is. Big ledges also hold Cobia along with other reef fish. If your planning a trip or vacation to St. Augustine Florida, Soon to come next in March April May are all the pelagics- big wahoo, mahi mahi, tuna fish, sailfish and even blue marlin. You have to charter a all day gulfstream troll trip and it is a long day but these excursions can make lifelong memories. Fishing charters are already being booked for summer and if your looking for a specific date, call us sooner than later at Drop Down Sport Fish Charters in St. Augustine Florida. Let’s go fishing!!
